Feature Highlights

Check out some of the most interesting features below. Click the title for more details.

  • Rapid One-Handed Data Entry

    Rapid One-Handed Data Entry

The ability to quickly capture data in meetings, classes, or phone calls is very important. TEO allows you to do this using the same software you use today, resulting in a minimal learning curve and maximum use of the captured data.

Microsoft Outlook, out of the box, provides little optimization for the Tablet PC platform. While you can send ink emails using the features of Word 2003, you're stuck using the on-screen keyboard or input panel for other items such as appointments, contacts, tasks, and journal entries.

The magic of TEO is that it provides Tablet PC-optimized forms for creating and editing the rest of these items without re-inventing the application. When you create a contact, it is a true Outlook contact with additional ink data attached. You can toggle the TEO view on and off to switch between the standard Outlook view and TEO. If you want, you can strip them item of all ink data and convert it to a standard Outlook item when you're done making the necessary corrections.

  • Rich Note-Taking Support

    Rich Note-Taking Support

Note-taking support in TEO 3.0 has been completely revamped. No longer are you limited to flat ink that can't be converted to text. Now TEO gives you the same capabilities as Windows Journal right within Outlook.

You can mix ink, text, images, shapes, and flags on multiple pages with configurable stationery. If you have a bunch of Windows Journal documents laying around, you can import them into any Outlook item in the notes area.

When you convert the TEO item to a standard Outlook item, the richness of your notes is preserved as a HTML document archive (*.mht file) which can be viewed by anyone, even if they do not have TEO.

  • Audio Recording in Outlook Items

    Audio Recording in Outlook Items

In addition to rich handwritten notes, you can also pick up audio through the microphone on your Tablet PC or an optional headset and record it directly to the Outlook item. You can attach several audio recordings to any Outlook item and it will be stored in the PST on the item itself as an attachment so you'll never lose it.

Use the audio recording feature to record conversations, meetings, lectures, or even just notes to yourself.

Playback of the audio file happens right within the same item window so you don't have to launch Windows Media Player or Winamp to play it back. (Although you could!)

  • Call Notes with Skype Support

    Call Notes with Skype Support

Have you ever looked frantically for a notepad on your desk while on a call to jot down a phone number or address? Have you ever clicked Start -> Run -> notepad.exe because you had no other place to write something down?

The telephony features in TEO supports Skype out of the box and provides you with a call notes area for incoming and outgoing phone calls. Even better, it links contact information to the call so that when you save your call notes in the Outlook Journal, you have a link to the contact and the time and duration of the call.

  • MapPoint Integration with Contacts and Appointments

MapPoint Integration with Contacts and Appointments

TEO 3.0 expands on a feature introduced in the 2.0 version which integrates MapPoint functionality in Outlook. Now both Outlook Contacts and Appointments can have maps and directions attached to them.

Use the mapping integration to find out how to get to Bob's office for that lunch appointment you have. You can pan and zoom the map on the location tab and when you found the information you are looking for, add it to your notes and mark it up or set an early reminder to make sure you get to the appointment on time.

Future integration with other map sources is coming. Windows Live Local support is coming soon.

  • Research Manager Featuring Wikipedia Articles

    Research Manager Featuring Wikipedia Articles

When scratching down notes in class or in a meeting, if you come across a word or topic that you want to learn more, use the research assistant to draw a highlighter stroke over the term. TEO will look up the term in Wikipedia, the world-famous internet encyclopedia. You can either leave links for later or you can copy and paste parts of the article into your notes. A URL back to the source will automatically be inserted.

Your research results are organized right in the item so that when you come back to it later, you can quickly access the topics again. It's like having a mini favorites menu inside each Outlook item.

Ink Entry

  • Convenient and accurate handwriting recognition. Convert to text when and if you want to.
  • Improved correction interface allows you to make non-destructive corrections to recognized text more quickly than previous versions.
  • Background recognition means PDA's and other applications work the same with TEO as any other Outlook item.
  • Recognition preview and confidence indicator alerts you of incorrectly recognized text.

Note Taking

  • New rich note taking allows mixed ink, text, images, and more.
  • Built in audio recording lets you record conversations, meetings, conference calls and more. Recording and playback embedded right in the Outlook item.
  • Paste text and images from other applications and web pages. A hyperlink is automatically added for clipped web content.
  • Multiple pages of notes and the ability to import Windows Journal documents.
  • Stationery picker allows you to change the background of note pages.

Better Organization

  • The Outlook Journal is a great place to keep track of notes, customer interaction, and time spent on jobs.
  • Keep a log of all your phone calls. Skype integration automatically organizes your call notes and links them to contacts.
  • Keep track of research topics using the research highlighter which organizes links to Wikipedia articles in your notes.
  • Stay organized with Outlook categories. TEO can warn you if you forget to categorize an item.
  • Find contacts and map appointment locations with directions using MapPoint integration.

  • Outlook attachments are now supported. Organize documents related to projects and tasks within Outlook items as attachments.
  • Export your notes as html archive files so that others without TEO can receive your notes.

  • Replacement Outlook Reminder window that displays ink and makes snoozing and dismissing easier.
